Naomi has appeared on a total of 8 Vogue covers; Linda Evangelista appeared on 13 and Gisele Bundchen 12. Kate the most featured model appeared on 24 covers. Some may feel Naomi’s complaints are petty and unfounded, complaining about the lack of covers she appears on, when the average person is faced with bills, mortgages, debts – real problems. Obviously her argument goes above and beyond knit picking over magazine covers, but it’s hard to sympathise with a ‘struggling model’ that is in no way struggling to make a living.

Try bright colours this summer just like a goddess

VItalian Vogue has broken one of the fashion world's taboos by featuring only black models in its July issue. The pictures by New-York based Steven Meisel, one of the most successful photographers in the industry, fill about 100 pages of the magazine, and are accompanied by features on black women in the arts and entertainment. The absence of black models on the covers of fashion magazines has long been a complaint inside the industry. The justification frequently given is that such covers "do not sell". source

BEAUTY TIPS

Makeup is all about expressing your individuality, and showing off the many sides of your dynamic personality! One of my favorite divas whose signature makeup look is instantly recognizable is world-renowned fashion designer, Betsey Johnson, her look doesn’t follow any rules--it’s over-the-top, outrageous, and it works. Bright red lips and heavily lined eyes are her trademark, and she always looks amazing. Any diva with distinction knows that if your head is held high, people will notice you first and your makeup second.

Looks for Darker Skin Tones: I love doing smokey looks or deep cocoa and amber colours on darker skinned women. Darker tones can get away with doing a smokey look on the eyes because it doesn't look overdone as it would on someone with fairer skin. Check out Iman Cosmetics for tips and products. There are some amazing looks on there!
Finding Your Fashion Personality
1. Develop An Eye.Visit as many stores as you can (including the ones you wouldn't normally go to) and try on as many styles as you can.
2. Let "It's Me" Be Your Guide.Listen to yourself first before listening to compliments from others. While the flatterer may have good intentions, he or she may just be praising you because you're wearing something unusual, like a bright color.
3. Look In The Mirror.Figure out what your assets are. Is it your shoulders? Your back? Your legs? Maybe it's your ankles, but it's for you to know which area(s) you'll zone in on. These are areas you always feel great about, so choose clothes that flatter them not diminish them.
4. Ask Yourself "Am I Excited?"Does what you put on make you feel great? It could be a basic sheath dress, but you feel confident and comfortable. Like Coco Chanel said; "A woman is closest to being naked when she is well dressed"
5. Be Willing To Adapt.Ask yourself, "what's my lifestyle?" Then list those situations you find yourself in regularly; let's say, corporate office, hot dates, dinners with friends, and then adapt or refine your personality. Maybe you're quite glamourous and you're a new mom. There's still a way to bring that glamour to your now more casual style.
6. Remember: Runway Isn't Reality.Designers show two collections, one for the press and one for the stores. Some fashion personalities let the runway be their guide but for the most part I advise you to go with reality. Meaning if you watch shows it should be for entertainment, immolating the styles may not be flattering on you. So, pick up details from the runway in the stores for that season.
7. Go Ahead, Change Your Personality!Your Fashion Personality can change and it constantly evolves. There may be a reason for it, like a career change, moving to a different climate, lifestyle change, or maybe you just want to switch it up and get a new look. If you're shopping and you pick something up and think you like it, but you don't think it's "you" try it on anyways!
8. Get Help. You need to find someone who will analyze your look. The best way is hire a stylist, he or she will teach you about your body type and which styles, cuts, colors and trends are most flattering on you. The second best way is by visiting your local department store or specialty store for style advice, just beware of then pushing one line or product. By getting help you will have fewer things in your closet that you never wear so you end up saving money. I'm a personal shopper and stylist and I do it to, we all need another set of professional eyes to guide us in the wide world of fashion.
9. We All Get Lazy. The key to stylish dressing is to be conscious of your look; once you are, you can choose to be lazy. For example my lazy look of the moment is a C&C California cotton dress with a low slung brown belt and flip flops. If you know your style it's easy just to trow something on and go.11. Lighten Up.Don't take fashion too seriously. It's a yummy extra like icing on the cake, or the gloss on top of your lipstick.
